Research firm Borrell Associates expects online real estate advertising revenue to surpass print ad revenue in three years. By 2012, spending on online real estate ads could hit $3.4 billion, compared to $3.2 billion for their print counterparts. Print real estate ad revenue plummeted 24 percent to $1 billion in the third quarter compared to the year-ago period, according to the Newspaper Association of America. While total spending on ads declined 3 percent so far this year, online advertising increased by 25.8 percent to $2.6 billion.
