A popular latino coffee shop on West 14th Street near Seventh Avenue is the latest victim of rising rents for retail and restaurant space in Manhattan. Sucelt Coffee Shop, a fixture for three decades, will close its kitchen for good on Christmas Eve. The owners’ lease for $7,000 a month in rent expired in June, but they decided to close after turning down the landlord’s request to move the kitchen from the basement to the main dining space, which would have halved the seating area from 12 to six seats.
