Sen. Hillary Clinton is expected to call for a 90-day freeze on home foreclosures today. Clinton is also expected to call for a five-year freeze on the rates of adjustable mortgages, which the Bush administration is also reportedly considering. Reports of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s plan prompted Clinton to send him a letter with her own proposal. Some of the biggest swing states, including Ohio, Florida and Michigan, have been hit hard by the subprime mortgage meltdown. In August, Clinton called for a ban on prepayment penalties and for disclosure of more details about broker commissions.
