Clues are emerging about New York University’s planned 6
million-square-foot campus expansion plan over the next 25 years. NYU
said half of this expansion can fit in its so-called campus core, which
extends about a quarter mile from the southeast corner of Washington
Square Park. The core already contains 7.5 million of NYU’s existing 15
million square feet in Manhattan. About 3 million square feet of the
expansion would be set side for new housing, and 2.5 million square
feet would be for new academic space.
