Subprime market scares investors from banks

Investors distancing themselves from mortgage-backed securities have driven bank stocks down by 28 percent in the last year. While such sell-offs have snared big banks exposed to the subprime market, including Citigroup and Washington Mutual, it has also hurt the stock value of smaller banks not actually tied to subprime loans.
