Work stops at Trump Soho

January 15, 2008 08:42AM

The city’s Buildings Department has halted work at Trump Soho, after a construction worker fell 42 floors to his death. The worker fell after a wooden mold used to set the concrete collapsed, authorities said. Another worker who fell was caught in a safety net at the 40th floor. The building’s contractors have been citied with 11 previous building code violations, eight by Bovis Lend Lease and three by a subcontractor, DiFama Concrete Company. They were cited for operating a crane in an unsafe manner, failing to provide a flagman during hoisting operations and failing to close the sidewalk when hoisting heavy loads, among others.
