Spitzer bill would make lenders warn borrowers of foreclosure

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has proposed a bill that would make lenders give struggling homeowners a written warning 60 days before starting foreclosure proceedings. The bill would also require lenders to meet with borrowers to try to negotiate a settlement and would toughen regulations for mortgage brokers and service companies.
