New Seaport Mall get have market

New additions to the South Street Seaport might include a market on the first floor of the former Fulton Fish Market building. The announcement was welcomed by community members who have expressed a desire for a market in the new mall. The marketplace is one aspect of the controversial designs for the new Seaport mall. Last month, community members expressed concern that the 30,000-square-foot community center proposed by Seaport developer General Growth Properties was not big enough. Community Board 1 said the community center should be closer to the 100,000-square-foot range to compensate for the lack of community centers in the East Side.
