The city Buildings Department’s inspection sweep of tower cranes led to stop-work orders at eight tower cranes out of the 29 inspected, the DOB said in a statement. Seven of the stop-work orders have been lifted, while one remains. Six of the violations were issued for safety reasons, while two were for administrative causes, such as missing paperwork. The sweep was launched after the March 15 crane collapse at 303 East 51st Street, which killed seven people and damaged several buildings. TRD
