Nightclubs in path of Airport Village in Jamaica, Queens

Several nightclubs in Jamaica, Queens, face demolition to make way for the planned Airport Village. The clubs that could be leveled include Club Kalua, where Sean Bell died in 2006 from a hail of bullets fired by police, just hours before his wedding. The Greater Jamaica Development Corp. plans a transit-oriented development that would take advantage of Jamaica’s links to the Long Island Rail Road, AirTrain to JFK and three subway lines. A hotel, affordable housing and parking center are all in the works.
