Schumer tries to block Silver on Moynihan Station

Senator Charles Schumer’s push to give the Moynihan Station project to the Port Authority is seen as a way to wrestle control away from Sheldon Silver, the Democratic speaker of the assembly. The Port Authority doesn’t have to answer to the Public Authorities Control Board, which gives final approval on public projects financing, and where Silver plays a large role. But state legislators don’t like the idea of losing control of the troubled project.
