Andrew Borrok, a real estate investor who made a $250 million profit when he sold 14 Penn Plaza last year, has purchased a condo at 40 Mercer, the Soho development designed by architect Jean Nouvel and developed Andre Balasz. Last year, the New York Post called Borrok “The Jay Gatsby-ish bachelor — who made a fortune in real estate.” His father, Charles, is vice chairman of Cushman & Wakefield. The Times ran a profile last year on Borrok and his plans for a four-star restaurant in Soho. “The city has a lot of great neighborhoods and I looked at a lot of apartments. I guess in the end, you have to go with what feels right,” Borrok said in an email. TRD
