South Africa buys Turtle Bay townhouse

The South African Consulate purchased a townhouse at 230-232 East 49th Street for $12.5 million, according to property records posted today. The five-story mansion is about 8,000-square-feet, including seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, five fireplaces, a terrace and an elevator on a 3,816-square-foot lot. The building had been used as two-story residence and a triplex. The sellers were Jean Mahoney, Edward Pardoe III and Helen Pardoe. TRD
