Bloomberg to propose big car-free zone

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to propose a five-mile pedestrian zone today that would run from the Upper East Side to Lower Manhattan on three Saturdays in August. The stretch would run along Lafayette Street, Fourth Avenue, and Park Avenue from Centre Street in Lower Manhattan to East 72nd Street. Some businesses say the lack of auto traffic will cost them big money.
