Strand Annex to close this summer

The Strand Annex bookstore at 95 Fulton Street will close at the end of the summer. Store owner Fred Base said construction in the area has decreased foot traffic around the store, lowering profits. The Annex has 15,000 square feet of new and used discounted books, and has been at the Financial District address for 12 years. The shop is an offshoot of the Strand Book Store at Broadway and 12th Street. In its May issue, The Real Deal reported on how bookstores are being forced to relocate.
