Hong Kong buyer pays $14M at 15 CPW

 
A 3,364-square-foot apartment on the 14th floor of 15 Central Park West sold for $14.2 million to an entity registered at the address of a shipping company in Hong Kong.

In addition to the three-bedroom apartment, the buyer purchased a 455-square-foot storage unit for $1.04 million, or $2,285 per square foot.

The buyer was identified as Jolly Star Holding Limited, which shares an address with the Hong Kong-based shipper Transfield ER Group. The buyer went into contract on the units in November 2006, and closed on the sale February 4, according to city records published Friday.

To finance the condo, the buyer bought a $10.8 million mortgage, covering both the apartment and the storage space, records showed.

Transfield ER, which specializes in transporting dry goods such as grains, fertilizers and minerals, shipped 85 million tons of cargo in 2007, according to its Web site.
