LPC to vote on McCarren Pool plans

September 08, 2008 08:55AM

The Landmarks Preservation Commission is expected to vote tomorrow on redevelopment plans for the six-acre McCarren Pool in Williamsburg, which has been dry for 24 years and most recently served as a music venue, until the end of August. The latest proposal for the space would shrink the size of the pool to make room for a skating rink, community and exhibition center, a cafe and pavilions for bathrooms, lockers and changing rooms. Renovation of the pool, which was landmarked last year, would be slated for completion in 2011 with an expected cost of $50 million.
