Seven years after the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, Port Authority executive director Christopher Ward is expected to give an updated status report of the projects there at the end of the month, after previously signaling informally that deadlines for completion would be pushed back several years. The first steel column of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum was placed this month, after construction on the Freedom Tower rose above street level in August. Foundation work has begun at Towers 3 and 4, while preparatory work is underway at the site of Tower 2.
