Possibly inspired by hedge fund manager Andrei Vavilov’s litigation
earlier this month, a second penthouse buyer at The Plaza has initiated
a lawsuit against the building’s developer, El-Ad, and its marketing
firm, Stribling & Associates. The unidentified owner of unit PH2001
— who sources say is also a hedge fund manager — wants his $6.5
million deposit back, plus at least $350,000 in legal fees and the
interest on his claims. The suit alleges “fraud, negligent
misrepresentation” and “deceptive trade practices.”
