Plans for the proposed Bay Ridge Food Co-op are moving along, and a
Walgreens planned for the corner of Third Avenue and 95th Street, at the site of a former Key Foods, is slated to open in June 2009.
The news was announced by City Council member Vincent Gentile at a
Community Board 10 meeting. Gentile also squashed rumors that Fairway
Market would be coming to a building at Fifth Avenue and 94th Street
that now houses a Staples. Also, a Starbucks at 84th Street and Third Avenue will
be shutting down on September 26th, despite the efforts of an activist
group to prevent its closure.
