The number of foreclosures nationwide in 2008 is likely to top one million, according to the Web site Foreclosures.com. This comes after the site’s monthly foreclosure index rose 7 percent in September, from the previous month. The number of homes facing pre-foreclosure filings is likely to break two million this year, it said.
