Brooklyn Bridge Park construction to start next month

The first phase of construction at Brooklyn Bridge Park is scheduled to begin
in November. Covering 9.5 acres, the first phase is expected to be
completed by the end of 2009. It will include 1,300 feet of promenade
along the
East River, 2.5 acres of lawn and the first
portion of the Brooklyn Greenway, a borough-wide bikeway. The entire park is planned to stretch 1.3 miles from south of
Atlantic Avenue to
north of the Manhattan
Bridge.
