Halstead SVP departs for Elliman

Looking for a way to reinvent himself, Alan Pfeifer has moved to Prudential Douglas Elliman as an executive vice president and associate broker.

“Change inspires creativity and action,” said Pfeifer,
a former senior vice president at Halstead Property. “Elliman reached out
to me, but it takes a willingness to be ready to make a move. The timing of the
change was excellent because of the nature of the market.”

Pfeifer has served as the co-chair for the Real Estate Board
of New York sales council, a group of brokers who liaise between REBNY and its member brokers. Pfeifer is also currently the chairman of REBNY’s New York residential specialist
credentials committee
, an educational program REBNY started in 2007.

Pfeifer said that in New York City real estate, it’s currently a buyers’ market, and that sellers have to understand that the value of their properties won’t be increasing for some time.

“If you want to sell, you have to be willing to
negotiate,” Pfeifer said.

Pfeifer worked in the fashion industry before joining
Halstead, and said that in all of his endeavors, he has followed what he calls
the basic fundamentals of selling to succeed.

“The principles of discipline, perseverance and knowing
how to close a deal — I learned them in my 25 years in the apparel business,
and they also apply to real estate,” he said.
