All of the 10 high schools affiliated with the New York Archdiocese will be financially independent from the Archdiocese, it announced today. Five of the affected schools, Cathedral High School for Girls in Manhattan, at 350 East 56th Street, Cardinal Hayes and Cardinal Spellman in the Bronx and Moore Catholic and Monsignor Farrell on Staten Island, are in the city. The Archdiocese will continue to own the buildings and operate the grounds, but the schools themselves will be run by lay boards of directors who will have to advertise and raise funds for the schools.
