Public likes Pier 57 plans

Many neighbors and activists reacted positively at a public forum last week
toward the three proposals submitted for development at Pier 57. Three
developers, the Durst Organization, the Related Companies and Youngwoo
& Associates, are vying for the right to develop Pier 57.
The proposals include public space and are meant to be used by small
businesses and community members. But several community members said
the development plans could have a detrimental impact on the
environment, endangering the survival of striped bass.
