Columbia University paid a combined $13.6 million to buy an apartment building and an industrial building near the school’s Upper Manhattan campus.

The school closed on the purchase of the five-story residential building at 619-623 West 113th Street near Broadway in Morningside Heights for $8.75 million on February 19, according to city records published today. The seller was a church, the Community of the Holy Spirit, records show.

The second property, a two-story industrial building at 2305 12th Avenue between 132nd and 131st streets in Manhattanville, was sold by 2305 Holding LLC for $4.9 million, other city records published today showed. The sale closed on January 30. The building is located on a 7,000-square-foot lot with a maximum floor area ratio of 41,952 square feet, according to PropertyShark.com.

The Manhattanville sale was expected. The parcel is included in a 17-acre site in Harlem north of 125th Street where the university is planning a $6 billion expansion over the next 25 years. The school was not immediately available for comment. TRD
