Markowitz wants tower modified

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has written a letter to the Department of City Planning, jumping into a debate about a development near the Brooklyn Bridge. Markowitz said that he supports the Dock Street Dumbo tower but that he does not want it to hinder public views of the bridge. He asked that developer Two Trees Management Company make the tower, which is slated to include shops, rental apartments and a middle school, taller and thinner and move it 70 feet farther away from Front Street. Markowitz can only provide input into the project, which then needs approval from the planning department and the City Council.
