The City Council approved Toll Brothers’ proposed Gowanus project yesterday. Only Council member Tony Avella, a Democrat from Queens, voted against it. The mixed-use project at 363-365 Bond Street will include 460 housing units, 2,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and another 2,000 square feet of community facility space. The Bloomberg administration’s wider-ranging plan for a rezoning of the Gowanus Canal area will enter its own public review process in a few months.
