Openings and closings: Stella Filante to open, Peter’s Place to close

Zadig & Voltaire has opened its second U.S., and first New York City, location at 831 Washington Street. The Art of Shaving has opened a barbershop in Bloomingdale’s. Restaurant Sora Lella opened last night in Hudson Square. Women’s boutique Stella Filante is slated to open today on the Lower East Side. Keste Pizza & Vino will open this weekend at 271 Bleecker Street near Morton Street.

Several other restaurants and stores have reopened recently. Stamatis on Broadway between 31st and 32nd avenues in Astoria has reopened with the name Bahari. Spanky’s, at 127 West 43rd Street near Sixth Avenue, has reopened as HB Burger. Heights Books in Brooklyn reopened in a new location at 120 Smith Street over the weekend. Kashmir Buffet, on Eighth Avenue between 39th and 40th streets, has reopened for lunch only, after closing a few months ago.

A few other spaces seem in danger of closing soon. Vox Pop, at 1022 Cotelyou Road in Brooklyn, is three months behind on its rent and lost its food and beverage license recently because of unpaid fines. The Secret Theatre in Long Island City is on the verge of closing. Peter’s Place, a drop-in center for homeless senior citizens at 123 West 23rd Street is closing in June. In Brooklyn, Garry Jewelers & Opticians on Fifth Avenue between 10th and 11th streets has been dark for a few weeks. TRD
