Diane Saatchi, a vice
president at the Corcoran Group, said people are not eager to buy or
rent in the Hamptons because inventory is increasing and the market
seems to be continually declining. Saatchi said that buyers are looking
for value instead of extravagance, and some are sharing homes with
other family members. “A couple of years ago people wanted elevators
because that was the thing. Now they need them because their parents
are staying in their second homes with them,” Saatchi said.
