Manhattan gets three new landmarks
In addition to the Prospect Heights Historic District that was
established, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate
three individual landmarks in the city yesterday. The 210-year-old Federal style row house at
94 Greenwich Street was designated a landmark, as well as the Mount
Olive Fire Baptized Holiness Church, at 304-308 West 122nd Street,
which was constructed in 1897 for the Second Reformed Presbyterian
Church of North America. The John Peirce residence at 11 East 51st
Street also earned landmark designation. It was built between 1904 and
1906 for John Peirce, one of the country’s largest granite contractors
in the late 19th century. TRD
