Kai D, a self-called retailer for artisans, is opening at 75 Orchard Street between Grand and Broome streets. The team behind Parisian retailer Merci will open a pop-up shop in the Midtown Gap at 680 Fifth Avenue between 54th and 53rd streets. Mexican and Cuban restaurant and saloon Cantina Latina is opening at 243 East 14th Street between Second and Third avenues. Ace Hotel at 18 West 29th Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway continues to expand its offerings, with a new coffee spot Stumptown Coffee Roasters opening in its building.

The Halem Bike Doctor, which got its name due to a typo on its grand opening flier, a two-year Harlem fixture and family business (the operator’s father fixed bikes for 35 years), is moving south, away from its almost-namesake. Citing a changing neighborhood, the owner, Donald Childs Jr., is closing his uptown shop and opening a new location in Brooklyn.

In Brooklyn, Sue Perette has opened at 270 Smith Street between Degraw and Sackett streets. Restaurateur Dung Trinh, who recently opened Banh Mi 172, is opening a new Vietnamese joint, An Nhau, at 172 Bedford Avenue between North 7th and 8th streets, focusing on broader cuisine offerings.

In Queens, Mingle Beer House, a Taiwanese gastropub, has made a home in Flushing. Caffe on the Green, the popular Bayside eatery that shut down in January, has faced renovation problems that may delay its reopening until winter.

The original Katsuhama restaurant at 11 East 47th Street between Fifth and Madison avenues — not the new location at 55th Street that recently opened — will be shut down for the next two to three weeks for renovations.

The Grecian Corner, in Park Slope, has closed, reportedly due to renovations. Cobble Hill’s Provence en Boite was cited with a city closure notice taped to its front door at 263 Smith Street on the corner of Degraw Street yesterday. The sign alleges that the establishment was closed for operating illegally.
