Medical center space to be represented by Grubb & Ellis


Grubb & Ellis announced today that it will serve as the exclusive broker for the former Cabrini Medical Center at 217 East 19th Street between Second and Third avenues. The Gramercy Park building is available for sale or long-term lease. It contains approximately 400,000 square feet of space and occupies half a city block. The medical center, when in operation, held 455 beds.


Social services program for recently incarcerated receives $350,000 grant

The Ready, Willing and Able program, which provides temporary housing and other social services for recently incarcerated New York City residents, was awarded a $350,000 grant from the Justice Department, according to an announcement today from Reps. Edolphus Towns and Carolyn Maloney. After 20 years in operation, the program, which currently assists 800 individuals, boasts a 4.8 percent re-arrest rate within a year of release.

Uptown charter school unveils new academic wing

The New Heights Academy Charter School, located at 1818 Amsterdam Avenue on the corner of 150th Street, celebrated the opening of a new 32,000-square-foot wing today, an expansion that adds 16 new classrooms to the facility. The school, which serves students in grades 5 to 12 living in Washington Heights and Inwood, will now be equipped to serve more students than any other charter school in the city, according to a press release from the school’s publicist. Civic Builders, a non-profit development group, partnered with New Heights to complete the addition.TRD
