Openings and closings: Gansevoort opens, Bulgari closes

The highly anticipated Gansevoort 69 reportedly opened last night at 69 Gansevoort Street between Washington and Greenwich streets in the former Florent location. Blue Elm restaurant owners confirmed that the spot will start welcoming customers this weekend at 198 Orchard Street on the corner of East Houston Street. The Boom Boom Room, the Standard Hotel’s rooftop bar at 848 Washington Street near West 13th Street, is open for private parties only. It will reportedly open to the public Sept. 22. Macbar, a new indulgent spot specializing in macaroni and cheese, has plans to open up sometime this month at 54 Prince Street between Mulberry and Lafayette streets. Simon Hammerstein, owner of the notorious burlesque spot the Box, is taking over China Club, at 268 West 47th Street on the corner of Eighth Avenue, for two weeks in October for a Halloween-esque showcase. John’s Deli & Grocery has opened at 37-39 Clinton Street on the corner of Stanton Street. The long-awaited Ed’s Chowder Bar will open this Thursday in the Empire Hotel at 44 West 63rd Street on the corner of Broadway. Slice, the vegan-friendly pizza spot, reportedly plans to open next month at 535 Hudson Street near Charles Street.

Nanoosh Mediterranean Hummus Bar signed a lease for a new spot on 171 Madison Avenue, on the corner of 33rd Street, according to a press release. This will be Nanoosh’s third Manhattan-area location. Royal Day Spa has signed a 10-year lease for space at 426 Second Avenue between 24th and 25th streets.

In Brooklyn, restaurant Mercat Negre will reportedly open at 65 Grand Street near Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg. Northside Piers condo, at 178 Kent Avenue Near North 5th Street, also in Williamsburg, will house a Mole restaurant.

Bulgari is closing its 783 Madison Avenue location between 66th and 67th streets.
