Engineer Dominic Stiller has purchased a brownstone on 30th Street and
39th Avenue in the Dutch Kills area of Long Island City, taking
advantage of a recently overturned ban on new homes in the
neighborhood. After Dutch Kills was officially declared a
manufacturing zone in 1961, even old homes in the area became
difficult to buy and insure. Residents see Stiller’s purchase and
construction on a two-story extension of the building as ushering in a
new era for Dutch Kills.
