Openings and closings: Superdry opens, Bruno Ravioli closes

On the Lower East Side, a secret speakeasy bar has opened in an
undisclosed location a “little farther east than weekend revelers
usually go.” In Soho, Shecky’s Media company has moved from its offices at 678 Broadway to a larger space at 155 Sixth Avenue in Soho next to the Trump Soho building, according to a press release.

In Tribeca, Baja News Café has opened at 225 Varick Street, according to another release. Baby clothing store Petite Pomme has opened at 186 Duane Street. In the East Village, the owners of the Brooklyn flea will open a 6,500-square-feet holiday flea market called Gifted in the old Tower Records space at 20 East 4th Street at Lafayette Street. In Noho, Japanese-inspired British clothing store Superdry has opened at Broadway and Washington Place. A Jodi Arnold pop-up shop has opened on University Place and 10th Street.

Further uptown, Lucy’s Mexican Cantina will open at 1 Penn Plaza on 34th Street and Eighth Avenue. The annual Holiday shops at Bryant Park are now open until Jan. 3. Gourmet pastry shop Sprig will open in the first quarter of 2010 in the Lipstick Building at 885 Third Avenue, according to a release. Salad joint Chop’t is opening a new location on Broadway between 41st and 42nd streets.

On the Upper West Side, kosher restaurant Prime Grill is coming to 85th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.  Another kosher restaurant and cafe, My Most Favorite, which has a location on West 45th near Broadway, will take over the old spot of the Nargila Grill on 72nd Street near West End Avenue. On the Upper East Side, Cascabel Taqueria has opened at 1542 Second Avenue near 80th Street. In Harlem, N Boutique will be re-opening Nov. 18 on Lenox Avenue between 118th and 119th streets. In the Bronx, Gem Pawnbrokers has opened its 21st New York state location at 1055 Westchester Avenue, according to a press release.

In Brooklyn, Totonno’s pizza place will reopen soon following a devastating fire at 1524 Neptune Avenue Near West 15th Street.  Kosher soup kitchen Orenstein-Met Council Masbia Kitchen has opened in south Williamsburg. A new French bakery/bistro and wine bar called La Petite Provence opened this past Friday at 255 Smith Street, in the old Patois space. The owners of Lorely beer garden on the Lower East Side will open Loreley Williamsburg at 64 Frost Street near Leonard Street.

Amid these openings, there have also been some closings. Two frozen yogurt joints have shuttered recently. In Chinatown, Nom Wah Tea Parlor has been shut down by the Department of Health for the second time after receiving 51 violations. The owners hope to reopen soon. Tasti-D-Lite has closed at 150 Second Avenue between East 9th and 10th streets and Red Mango has shuttered its location at 182 Bleecker Street near Sullivan Street. Vietnamese noodle shop O Bao on 53rd Street between Second and Third avenues is still not open. Bruno Ravioli has shuttered its Upper West Side location on Broadway between 78th and 79th streets. In Brooklyn, Roman’s on DeKalb Avenue near Vanderbilt Street has a stop-work order posted in the window. French bistro Pit Stop has shuttered at 127 Columbia Street and will reopen as Bistro 4 Kids.
