On the Lower East Side, Lea Crepes and Panini is opening at 188 Allen Street between Stanton and East Houston streets. Also on the Lower East Side, Ravi DeRossi, the entrepreneur behind the popular Death & Co. bar, is planning to open a Cuban sandwich joint, Cienfuegos, at 443 6th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A.

The Essences Beauty Salon is taking space in high-rise condominium 80 Nassau Street in the Financial District, according to a press release.

At 250 East 57th Street on the corner of Second Avenue, developer World-Wide Group plans to build a new 59-story residential tower and accompanying retail space, with a possible Whole Foods Market.

In Brooklyn, Court Street in Cobble Hill is seeing some action. Union Market opened yesterday on Court Street between Douglass and Degraw streets, while a mystery tenant has signed a lease at the former Cobble Hill Tea Lounge space at 262 Court Street. In Park Slope, a banh mi shop is opening on Fifth Avenue between President and Carroll streets. The Brooklyn Flea market is reportedly opening a location at Williamsburg luxury residential development One Hanson Place.

One New York City shop is also closing. East Hardware at 79 Third Avenue on the corner of 11th Street is shuttering due to a reported rent hike.
