Openings and closings: Beltrami Foods opens, Montenapo closes … and more

In Alphabet City, an Italian restaurant called Beltrami Foods is set to open at 4-16 Avenue B at the corner of 2nd Street.

A restaurant called J & S Food Hall will open inside the Nolitan, a new yet-to-be opened hotel on Kenmare and Elizabeth streets in Nolita. In Greenwich Village, a 74-seat café called MaximoPino Café is open at 504 Sixth Avenue at 13th Street.

Brooklyn-based cupcake shop Aunt Butchies will open its fourth Manhattan location at the corner of 27th Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea.

In Harlem, chef and Harlem resident Marcus Samuelsson is rumored to open a new restaurant in an unspecified location. In Brooklyn, the owners of the Van Leeuwen’s ice cream truck are opening a permanent storefront in Greenpoint next door to the Manhattan Inn at 632 Manhattan Avenue.

Amid these openings, there have been some closings. Vintage shop Andy’s Chee-Pees on St. Mark’s Place and Second Avenue has shuttered, but its 18 West 8th Street shop will remain open. The Italian restaurant at the New York Times building, Montenapo, has closed temporarily and it is slated to reopen in February.
