Hamptons see 84% uptick in lis pendens

The number of first time residential lis pendens filings in the Hamptons in 2009 hit 566, marking an 84 percent increase over 2008, when the number reached just 307, according to year-end data released by PropertyShark.com. The top three villages with the most pre-foreclosure filings were East Hampton, Southampton and Hampton Bays, which had 135, 108 and 97 filings recorded, respectively. Additionally, the data showed that the number of lis pendens filings in the fourth quarter of 2009 outpaced the number filed during the same quarter of 2008 by 230 percent.
