Openings and closings: a Park Slope eatery opens, Skyline Books closes … and more

Mediterranean island-inspired Cosmpolitan Cafe has opened on Chambers Street in Tribeca. Come May, Coach will be targeting men with its first men’s-only store in the West Village at 370 Bleecker Street. Tapas joint Graffit will be opening on the Upper West Side in Levana Kosher restaurant’s old space at 141 West 69th Street, Westside Independent reported. The space formerly occupied by Pioneer Supermarket on Seventh Avenue and 145th Street is now Fine Fare, Uptownflavor reported.

In Midtown, Oaxaca Grill on East 47th Street between Park and Lexington avenues, officially opened yesterday. Following several headaches trying to decide where to park , the Moshe’s Falafel truck has picked 33rd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues as its new location, according to Midtown Lunch. Meanwhile, the El Rey Del Sabor cart has also made its move, over to the Northwest corner of Broadway and 49th Street. A Subway sandwich shop has taken over the space of G. E. Cuzins Food Market at 520 Ninth Avenue Near 39th Street in Hell’s Kitchen.

The space vacated by Dunkin’ Donuts On Second Avenue between 10th and 11th streets in the East Village has been taken by a deli and grocery.

A new roast chicken and bread eatery is opening at the corner of Seventh Avenue and 5th Street in Park Slope. Fort Greene will get a Thai restaurant operated by the people behind Joya, in the space that was the Taste of India at 723 Fulton Street, Brownstoner reported. Cupcakeland has opened in the old Catbird location at 390 Metropolitan Avenue between North 5th and Havemeyer streets in Williamsburg.

Au Bon Pain has opened in the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island, with Statue of Liberty Deli slated to open next month, as well as Island Pretzel and Fresh Juice & Ice Cream, the Staten Island Advance reported. 

Time Out reported a series of restaurants and bars that are slated to open no later than Feb. 10. They include Woodwork at 583 Vanderbilt Avenue at Dean Street in Prospect Heights; a restaurant for casual late-night dining similar to what can be found in Tokyo, in Tribeca at 277 Church Street between Franklin and White streets; an East Village storefront selling Tully Lewis’ gluten-free baked goods at 338 East 11th Street between First and Second avenues.

After a long goodbye, Skyline Books, a 20-year mainstay at 13 West 18th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, has officially closed its doors. In the East Village, eatery Butcher Bay has closed 5th Street between avenues A and B. Greenwich Village’s Aphrodisia Herb Shoppe at 264 Bleecker Street has closed.

Park Slope’s Miracle Grill at 222 Seventh Avenue filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection after closing a few weeks earlier.
