City tech agency to lease 85K in 2 Metrotech
The city Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications is seeking to lease 85,000 square feet in a Class A office building in Downtown Brooklyn, a recent city filing shows.
A separate city agency filed a land use application last month on behalf of DoITT, to win approval for the tech division to lease space in 2 Metrotech Center (note: correction appended), records published by the Department of City Planning this month show.
The application, received Jan. 27, is seeking to “consolidate and relocate two DoITT offices,” in the 457,966-square-foot eight-story building on Myrtle Avenue between Duffield and Bridge streets, the filing says.
Also, it was not clear what offices would be consolidated. According the the DoITT Web site, the agency has multiple locations including 11 Metrotech Center two blocks north, and in Manhattan near City Hall at 75 Park Place at West Broadway.
Chase, DoITT and Citywide Administrative Services, all declined to comment.
In addition, there appeared to be an error in the application, in the brief form in which it was published on the City Planning Web site. The City Planning document identified the building as 2 Metrotech Center, but gave the block and lot number — a system used to precisely identify city parcels — of a neighboring building known as 2 Metrotech Center, the document shows.
