Openings and closings: Parilla Steakhouse opens, Eighty One closes … and more

In Hamilton Heights, Harlem + Bespoke brings word that Parilla Steakhouse is opening at 3379 Broadway at the corner of 137th Street.

Staten Island mainstay Talay Thai is planning to open an Upper East Side location on the corner of 95th Street and First Avenue.

On the Upper West Side, the Westside Independent reported a few openings. Canteen 82, a new restaurant, is opening on Columbus Avenue between 82nd and 83rd streets, and up the avenue, Scratch restaurant, is opening at 680 Columbus Avenue on the corner of 93rd Street. Scottrade is opening a new location in 1,400 square feet at the corner of 88th Street and Broadway.

Despite the recent spate of retailers abandoning the Plaza Retail Collection stores at the hotel at One Central Park South, which The Real Deal reported yesterday, high-end clothier Ungaro officially announced that it will open a boutique there.

In the West Village, an art gallery is moving in at 601 Washington Street on the corner of Leroy Street in May. Also in the West Village, Le Pain Quotidien is opening in the former Old Homestead Steak House location.

Le Da Nang is now open in the East Village at 75 Second Avenue on the corner of 5th Street.

On the Lower East Side, the curiously named Robot Daycare center is opening at 70 East 1st Street near the corner of First Avenue.

An upscale kosher pizza eatery called Basil is opening up in Crown Heights on the corner of Kingston and Lincoln places. In Park Slope, a new taco spot called Oaxaca Taqueria is opening at 250 Fourth Avenue. In Greenpoint, an as-of-yet unnamed Mexican restaurant is moving in at 52 Nassau Avenue.

Amid these openings, there were several closings. Upper West Side restaurant Eighty One at 45 West 81st Street near the corner of Columbus Avenue is closing. Rumors are swirling over the possibly-permanent closure of eatery Allen & Delancey at 115 Allen Street on the corner of Delancey Street. The Gap has vacated its location on the corner of 86th Street and Broadway. The Gallery of International Naive Art is closing March 31 at the corner of Columbus Avenue and 82nd Street. Falafel Star on the corner of 7th Street and Avenue B has closed. In Brooklyn, Reis 100 sandwich shop has closed in Park Slope at 375 Fifth Avenue on the corner of 6th Street. The Hope Lounge in Williamsburg has suffered an unexplained closure over the last week. No word yet on whether the closure is permanent.
