AY holdout Freddy’s Bar is moving

Caving to the forces of eminent domain, Atlantic Yards holdout and outspoken protestor Freddy’s Bar, currently located in the footprint of Bruce Ratner’s planned Barclays Center at Dean Street and Sixth Avenue, is moving. The owners told Curbed that they’re in talks with a landlord at Fourth Avenue and Union Street, where they are hoping to reopen in two to three months’ time. In their words, they are “looking forward to moving out from under this sword of Damocles” but are taking with them the infamous “Chains of Justice,” with which protestors had previously shackled themselves to the bar to show their opposition to the project.
