Ridgewood Reservoir plan on hold

On the border of Brooklyn and Queens, a plan to redevelop the 50-acre Ridgewood Reservoir is treading water as the Department of Environmental Conservation weighs a request to designate the area a wetland. The city’s Department of Parks and Recreation had been expected to reveal three redesign proposals for the site, including plans for new park space and sports fields, but meanwhile, some local politicians and residents have been pushing to make the land a nature preserve. The agency will now wait for the DEC’s decision before forging ahead with the plans, city officials said. [NYDN]
