The Real Deal New York

Conde Nast in talks for WTC move

Publisher Conde Nast is in negotiations with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to lease space in 1 World Trade Center once the tower is complete, according to the New York Times. The possible deal is being kept under wraps, but insiders say that Conde Nast could end up leasing as much as 1 million square feet in the behemoth tower if the deal goes through. The magazine publisher, which carries titles including Vogue and the New Yorker, is currently occupying space in six different buildings across Manhattan, including 800,000-square-feet in 4 Times Square. Conde, however, is hardly the only major media company to consider an office switch. Newsweek announced earlier this year that it would move out of its downtown digs by August or September, while Businessweek made plans this month to move into Bloomberg news’ Midtown East headquarters, following the media giant’s purchase of the publication.
