Under construction in suburban Montclair, N.J. is — by a landslide — what will be the town’s most expensive mega-mansion offered in more than a decade, according to Gawker. While recent high-end home sales in Montclair have barely cleared the $4 million mark, this 24-room, 12,000-square-foot mountaintop home, located 17 miles from the city at 32 Club Way, has views of the Manhattan skyline — from the George Washington Bridge to the Statue of Liberty — and is asking $16.5 million. It boasts an observatory, home theater with “lobby and food service/snack bar” and a 50-by-25-foot pool with a “resort-style” cabana and guest suite, which are connected to the main house via a 60-foot underground tunnel. Property taxes are estimated to work out to $450,000 per year. Turpin Realtors has the listing. [Gawker]
