NYC real estate employment back near pre-recession levels

The city’s real estate industry is among the top 10 job creators of the year to-date, according to the latest employment data from Eastern Consolidated (see the full report below). Of the 53,000 New York City jobs that have been added since the beginning of the year, 2,900 were within the real estate industry. That represents a 2.5 percent gain in the industry’s total workforce in the city, which is now nearly recovered from the losses incurred during the downturn at just 800 jobs, or 0.7 percent of the workforce, below its employment peak in August 2008.
