Former Bellevue building manager acquitted on vendor misconduct charges

Bellevue Hospital Center

A former senior executive in charge of facilities management at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan was acquitted yesterday on charges that she pressured vendors into giving discounts in exchange for guaranteed contracts, according to the New York Times. Prosecutors had claimed that Farideh Tabaei promised different vendors, including a furniture company, that they would get exclusive contracts to supply the hospital with necessities if they handed over cheaper goods. Tabaei, a resident of Oceanside, Long Island, was fired from the hospital, where she had worked for nearly 25 years, after the charges were brought against her. [NYT]
