The Atlantic City casino district is slated for a state takeover, New
Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to announce tomorrow
afternoon. Under Christie’s plan, city officials would have to cede
their power over the tourist areas of the resort, which includes the
boardwalk, beach, casinos, marina and shopping district, according to
NBC Philadelphia. The takeover is an apparent reaction to a state
report on corruption in the Atlantic City government. [NBC Philadelphia]
