The Steinway Mansion, the Astoria house named for the famous, piano-making family that once called it home, has hit the market after roughly 80 years of ownership by the Halberian family, according to the New York Daily News. The current owners said that they’re no longer able to maintain the 170-year-old mansion, but that they hope the city or a preservation society will take the reins. The asking price for the 27-room estate is $4.5 million. The Halberian family originally purchased the home roughly eight decades ago, which was landmarked in 1967, for roughly $18,000. [NYDN]
